Pablo La Roche

On 21st Sept 2017, Pablo La Roche, the Associate Vice President and Sustainable Design Leader from CallisonRTKL and professor of Cal Poly Pomona University, gave a presentation of Passive Cooling Design Strategies. Now we share the presentation video (English presentation + Chinese subtitles).

Pablo La Roche

PhD, LEED AP BD+C. Associate Vice President and Sustainable Design Leader, CallisonRTKL, and Professor, Cal Poly Pomona University

Dr La Roche has more than 25 years of experience in professional practice, implementing sustainable, low carbon strategies in multiple international projects of all sizes. La Roche has a PhD from the University of California Los Angeles and has authored more than 130 technical papers in journals and conferences, including the second edition of his book “Carbon Neutral Architectural Design” available in the summer 2017. He recently chaired the 2016 Passive Low Energy Architecture (PLEA) conference in Los Angeles, is past president of the Society of Building Science Educators (SBSE) and past chair of the Solar Buildings Division of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES).

Abstract

The passive cooling design strategies are very important for the hot climate zones. The lecture covers the theories, analytical charts, softwares and classic projects, all of which enables the architects to quickly understand the passive cooling systems and select the most appropriate passive design strategies based on the conditions of the project.
