On 20th Sept 2017, Amarpreet Sethi, the performance design leader and principal of DLR Group, gave a presentation of Passive Heating Design Strategies. Now we share the presentation video.

Amarpreet is a Principal at DLR Group and she leads the Building Performance Design Team Nationally. Her background in Architecture and Engineering allow her to provide valuable contributions in the field of high performance building design holistically.

Amarpreet is an integral part of DLR Group’s National Building Optimization Team. Her thorough knowledge of climate-responsive design, daylighting, HVAC systems and energy modeling enable her to assist integrated design teams to deliver true high-performance buildings in all DLR Group market sectors.

Driven by a passion to provide valuable contributions to clients’ sustainability goals through Building Optimization services, Amarpreet has been performing energy modeling for over 15 years, including design assistance modeling, modeling for LEED and thermal modeling for natural ventilation. Amarpreet’s focus on sustainable design first began while obtaining her Architecture degree in India. She went on to achieve a Master’s in Energy and Climate and worked for a mechanical consulting firm for 10 years prior to joining DLR Group. Amarpreet is a Certified Energy Manager, an ASHRAE certified Building Energy Modeling Professional, High Performance Building design Professional as well as a LEED and WELL building accredited professional.

Abstract

This talk introduces the balance temperature point, common heat losses and heat gains as well as the strategies to reduce the heat losses. It also summarizes several passive heating systems and provides s few case studies.
